Parking Inspector Detector

A dash mounted device that warns you if you are going to receive a parking ticket by alerting you of parking officers or police nearby.

Background

This IoT device supported by connected services was a project I ideated and prototyped.

The PID detects police, parking police and rangers through a connected camera using Google image recognition.

An up-cycled iPhone was used as the camera and would automatically send a message to Slack (the image was authenticated using Cloud Vision API) and via SMS to subscribers who had parked on the street.

SPF+ Entry Alarm

A connected pool alarm designed to reduce the number of children who drown in backyard pools.

Background

This project involved creating a prototype that was essentially a connected Sunscreen bottle that had a built in swimming pool alarm that could alert parents via an audible alarm and instant message and call blocker on their mobile phone if something (like a child) fell into the pool.

The requirements included sourcing water-pressure/audible sensors, validating effectiveness, solving battery and connectivity issues, 3D printing, a manufacturing partnership for 15,000 units and platform partnership negotiations

Air Quality Allergy Tracker

Connected technology solution to help sufferers of allergies breath easy.

Background

Allergies will affect 1 in 3 of us at some time in our lives. But what causes them, and how do you treat them? And most importantly, how can we stay one step ahead of them?

Solution

New technology and interesting partnerships (Uber) will provide real time air quality analysis providing new insight into the exact nature of allergens in a hyperlocal environment.

Sufferers can declare attacks via the app (recording time, location and symptoms) to get an immediate reading on the actual allergens in that specific area. For every attack declared, the app will push a message out to other users in the affected area.

Geotags and personal tracking give doctors and suffers new insight into the actual allergens that could be triggering allergy attacks for an individual. Allergy attacks can then be better managed through the combined understanding of personal history and hyperlocal environmental information.
